DUI

As with all laws on the books, there are some rather silly ones related to alcohol. There was this bar that opened up and was named “O’Neil’s Saloon.” The owner was actually told by the state liquor authority that it’s against the law to use the word “saloon” in his store name. So the owner thought of an easy fix. He changed the “S” to a “B” and now his place is called the “O’Neil’s Baloon.”

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (BAFT) does not allow the use of the word “refreshing” when describing any beverage that contains alcohol. There are even silly laws that are state-specific. In Missouri if someone under the age of 21 takes out the trash and it has even one empty container that contained an alcoholic drink, they can be charged with illegal possession of alcohol. In Iowa it is illegal to “run a tab,” so make sure you pay for each drink you take.

In California if a store sells motor fuel and alcohol, alcoholic drinks cannot be displayed within about five feet of the cash register.

Oh and if you are in Michigan and under 21, don’t even think about giving a gift with alcohol even if the person is of legal age. And here’s one free pass: It is not a crime to be publicly intoxicated in Minnesota.
