Robber Lives in House while Homeowner is Away

Ryan Hamblin, 23, decided to maximize on the fact that a homeowner was going to be out of town. Hamblin not only robbed a house of five flat-screen televisions, a Sony PlayStation, and a laptop but he also slept and ate in the house in the 3000 block of East Norcroft Circle. The homeowner was out of town.

Hamblin pawned the items he stole in order to pay for drugs. Police found drug paraphernalia which included syringes and aluminum foil that was burnt when they entered the house. Police were called to the house because a neighbor noticed an open door.

Police were able to get the stolen items back from a Mesa pawn shop. They took Hamblin into custody last Friday evening. According to the police report, Hamblin had been sleeping in owner’s bed, using his shower, and even cooking in the kitchen. Hamblin said that he had broken into the home through a window.

Besides pawning the stolen goods, Hamblin also admitted to taking the homeowner’s checks and forging four of them totaling $3,500.

Hamblin was charged with multiple violations. He has been booked on second-degree burglary, once count of first-degree trafficking in stolen property and three counts of forgery.
