A man who was dressed trying to look like a UPS driver came into a check cashing store in Peoria and robbed the place. The suspect fled the scene carrying abut $50,000.
Police reported that the suspect was a male dressed in brown. He walked into the cash checking shop called Ace Cash Express which is located near 85th and Peoria Avenues. It was a little after 4:00 pm when he entered Ace. He was posing as a UPS driver by carrying boxes and some envelopes. He acted as if the mail he was carrying was for Ace.
The employee didn’t look at the suspect’s identification. She simply let the man pass the security door. The robber than took out his knife and put it against the employee’s stomach. He told her to open the safe and give him all of the money in it.
She complied and the suspect took the cash and stuffed it into one of the boxes he was carrying.
Witnesses told police that they saw the suspect run west toward an apartment complex. He then was seen getting into a small red SUV and driving west on Peoria Avenue.
The store did not have any surveillance cameras.
