Violence in the city is one thing, but when it reaches your own neighborhood, it can be frightening.
There was a recent incident in Phoenix, near West Dunlap and North 35th avenues that involved six men and a handgun.
A Phoenix Police Detective, Reuben Gonzales reported that around 12:30 am Monday morning a violent exchange broke out between two men in a car and four men in front of a house. The two men, a 16-year-old driver with a 22-year-old passenger drove up to the house where the four men were in their front yard. The men had an exchange of words that ended with one of them near the house opening fired on the boys in the car.
The passenger was hit in the torso and leg and was taken to the hospital in critical condition. The drive was hit in the leg and also taken to the hospital but was not in critical condition. All of the six were taken into police custody.
There were other weapons that were discovered at this Phoenix house. But it was just the handgun that was taken into the police’s possession. Gonzales reported that the man who opened fired said he did so in self-defense.
