It started with an indecipherable call that came into the 911 call center. The call came in around 12:30 am Sunday morning from a house near 70th Street and Cactus Road.
Sgt. Tommy Thompson, a Phoenix police spokesman, reported that the 911 dispatcher could not hear anyone talking but could hear just noise.
Police were sent to the resident to investigate. When they got there they found two men.
One was already dead and the other man was hiding in a bedroom in the back.
The name of the dead man who was 51-years-old has not been released as yet. The other man has been identified as Paul Douglas Wegele, 31. He has been arrested and taken into custody pending charges of first-degree murder.
Wegele was wondering around the house when police arrived.
Police officers tried to get Wegele’s attention but he didn’t respond to the officers who were knocking and calling out. The police then went to another door and discovered that the carport door showed evidence of forced entry.
Detectives think that the two men probably knew each other. Although. They are not sure what kind of relationship they had. Officials are also not disclosing where in the house the owner’s body was found.
