He has already been sentence to 13.5 years in an Arkansas prison for shooting and severely injuring a man that he got into a fight with in December of 1991. Shannon Joseph Daugherty had pleased guilty to first-degree assault. He served almost three years of the sentence. Once again, Daugherty was arrested by police in Scottsdale but this time for a totally different crime: counterfeiting.
Scottsdale police arrested Daugherty after they had found evidence the he had been counterfeiting bills close to the amount of $6,000 in his Phoenix home. He was also charged on suspicion of illegally possessing a gun.
Police became aware of Daugherty’s possible counterfeiting when James Clayton Johnson, 25, tried to pass the fake bills while visiting the Skin Cabaret on August 16th. Police have not commented on what it was that lead them to Daugherty but they state that Daugherty did admit to making fake bills with his printer/scanner.
Both Daugherty and Johnson are in jail both with bond set to $5,000 and $3,600 respectively.
