With the record number of foreclosures comes other problems. Many times homeowners are forced to vacate their house rather quickly. This does not leave them enough time to pack up their stuff. In some cases, they simply are not able to take some of the bigger items with them. This could include kitchen appliances.
A foreclosed home located on East Indigo Street near Val Vista Drive almost lost its refrigerator. Gilbert police have arrested James Canty, a 47 -year-old man who was trying to steal the fridge.
Police received a call from a neighbor that saw the man pull his black Honda pickup truck into the driveway of the foreclosed home around 2:30 pm on Wednesday. The neighbor saw Canty trying to take the fridge by going through the gate on the side of the house.
When police officers arrived, Canty tried to just hide in the backyard, but officers found him and took him into custody.
Police also took his pickup truck into custody.
