Mother, Five Children, and one Grandmother Held at Gunpoint during Robbery
There were five children, their mother, and their grandmother present during the armed robbery. Last Thursday three men forced entry into a house on the 1500 block of East Second Avenue. Police were called to the scene around 1:17am.
One of the victims told local police that she was sleeping in her bedroom when the three suspects broke into her house. One of the robbers put a shovel up to her neck and punched her in the face. One of the men pointed a gun at the family. They were all demanding money.
They forced the mother and her kids into one of the bedrooms where they were asked to lie on the floor. The grandmother and a daughter were in another bedroom and told to also lie down and not leave the room they were in. The men searched the house and were able to take a cell phone and lots of jewelry.
Two of the men have been captured. They were caught fleeing from the bedroom window and hiding under a trailer that was in the backyard of a house that was close. Damarco K. Chatman and Camron A. Perez were arrested and are charged on two counts of armed robbery, seven counts of kidnapping and one count of first-degree burglary. The third robber is still at large.
