Acting on information they received, Phoenix law enforcement raided a suspected drop house and found 23 undocumented aliens and seven coyotes inside, according to Fox 11 in Phoenix. It appears that these victims, all male, were being held for ransom by the suspected human smugglers.
“IIMPACT detectives found weapons in the home and a small utility room that had been converted to a “phone call room” where the UDA’s were being forced to call friends or family members pleading for money to win their freedom. The actual amount of money varied per victim.”
At this time, it remains unclear how long the victims were held. This is a situation that gives ride to a need for both personal injury and criminal defense attorneys, and investigators are continuing to ferret out the details of the situation.
