Scott A. Harder, 22, was arrested with pending charges against him for endangerment, reckless discharge of a firearm, tampering with evidence and possession of marijuana, narcotic and drug paraphernalia.
Harder has been accused of firing a gun around 11:40 pm toward the ceiling in a Tempe apartment complex at 200 East Southern Avenue. Inside the apartment above Harder was a couple that was sound asleep. The bullet came up from the floor of the couple’s apartment and actually hit the pillow just barely missing the two sleeping.
Officers were called to the scene. They came to Harder’s apartment and found that he had cleaned where he had shot the .40 caliber gun. He hid the gun and threw the casing from the used bullets in the parking lot dumpster.
While searching the apartment with the permission of Harder, police also found marijuana, a glass pipe with residue, and narcotic pain pills in a bottle under another name.
Police think that Harder was showing off his gun to his friends and accidentally shot it off not knowing there were bullets inside. They do not believe that drugs or alcohol played a role in the shooting.
