Justice records state that a judge in Cochise County Superior Court found a 12-year-old boy, who’s name has not been released, guilty for shooting and killing his 34-year-old mother. The hearing was held in Bisbee, Arizona.
The story is that the boy had been arguing with his mother about doing chores. After the argument, the mother left the home. The boy then used this time to go to his mother’s bedroom to get her pistol. He waited for her to come back and when she did, he shot her eight times. The mother’s boyfriend was present during the shooting.
The mother’s sister testified that her sister did not want the boy living in her house. She stated that her sister would yell at the boy and sometime physically abuse him.
Arizona law states that the boy will be released at the age of 18. His sentencing is scheduled for January 23rd. Sentencing will most likely include some kind of treatment.
The boy’s attorney believes that the boy is a victim of a cycle of child abuse in Arizona. His mother was abused as a child, she abused her child, and her child kills her.
