Personal injury

In order to investigate the Metrolink 111 train crash, the follow is a summary of events that occurred leading up to the crash.

There were 25 people killed and over a hundred injured in the train crash.

The first item listed begins at 2pm with Metrolink engineer, Robert Sanchez, on duty after only a 4 ½ hour break between shifts.

At 3:30pm Sanchez uses his cell phone to place a carry out order for a roast beef sandwich he intended to pick up at the final stop of Metrolink 111, Moorpark station.

At 3:35pm Metrolink 111 leaves the Union State from downtown Los Angeles.

At 4:13pm the train dispatcher tells the switching station to make sure that the signals are setup so the Metrolink operator knows that there is a freight train heading toward him on the same track.

Some where between 4:13pm and 4:22pm Sanchez calls out the he has seen two signals and the conductor confirms this as well as is the procedure.

The Metrolink train goes through the Chatsworth station.

4:22pm two “railfans” receive a text message from the Metrolink engineer. Just one minute later, train car number 111 plows head-on to the Union Pacific freighter train.
